When it comes to laying on the Christmas party Reading knows how to do it – the Thames valley for far around relies on the town as a source of all things festive and bright. This year is no different so we wanted to take a quick look at what’s on in and around Reading for those wanting to get their Christmas groove on – parties, plays, Glitz and glamour, all will be in Reading this festive season. We’re doing the same with special seasonal limited-edition beers, party packages and more…. But we digress.
19th November marks the start of the season with two big events on the same day, one either side of us – the Broad Street Mall lights switch-on to light up the centre of town and Christmas Glitz at the Oracle. Events at Broad Street start at 10am with all sorts of family-friendly Christmas party fun to be had in Reading centre and the big switch-on is at 4pm with Hollyoaks stars Jennifer Metcalfe and Ayden Callaghan doing the celebrity duties while the whole event is hosted by Heart FM.
Meanwhile, that evening, Christmas Glitz at The Oracle is back with space for 3,500 people to party like it’s Christmas in Reading. All sorts of offers, events and special happenings are promised but for many the highlight is the fireworks display which has moved this year to level 2 of the Holy Brook Car Park.
