New Beers for September: Round 1

September is a bumper month for our Brewmasters, with two rounds of special limited-edition beers hitting the taps two weeks apart. Here’s what you can have #FirstSips of from the start of September:

American Light Lager – 4.2%

This is our version of the classic thirst-quenching American lager. Using flaked maize, Troy at Blackheath has created a light and easy-drinking beer with a hint of floral hop aroma and a bright, crisp finish. This is a beer to round out the end of summer with on the terrace and pairs particularly well with a pizza.

IPA – 5.3%

Brewed up by Simon in Bristol, this well-hopped beauty has a simple malt bill and the sugar was added at the end of the boil to increase the sugar content without adding too much body.  A lot of aromatic hops rather than bittering hops were added mostly at the end of the boil and in the whirlpool. Then, at the end of fermentation, a big dry hopping in the fermenter. Very easy to drink because of a low pH and low bitterness.

Passion Fruit – 4.1%

An Extra Pale Ale brewed with lager malt to give a clear and crisp base brew which is given a light hopping with American hops before being matured with passionfruit extract. An obvious counterpoint to our popular mango beer, this special brings an exotic fruit taste and touch of tartness which brings out the crispness of the brew beautifully.

We’ll have more for you very soon but in the meantime, come and join us for #FirstSips of these fine fellows!
