We thought it might be nice to put together a guide to craft beer for wine drinkers so we asked Rob, one of our brewmasters, to undertake the unenviable task (!). After much supping and sipping he thinks he has nailed it…
Wine/Grape: Pinot Grigio
Beer: Zerodegrees Pilsner
Tasting Notes: A crisp, refreshing lager with hints of grain, herbal/spicy hop aromas from Czech Saaz hops & a light effervescence.
Wine/Grape: Sauvignon Blanc
Beer: Zerodegrees Silver Fern
Tasting Notes: Light and summery, this beer was brewed with the Nelson Sauvin hop from New Zealand, which is known from its gooseberry flavours and named after he famous grape.
Wine/Grape: Chardonnay/Champagne
Beer: Zerodegrees India Pale Hefeweizen
Tasting Notes: Refreshing and effervescent, a German wheat yeast lends a slight tartness to this beer while American hops lend fruity, citrus flavours.
Wine/Grape: Pinot Noir
Beer: Zerodegrees Pale Ale
Tasting Notes: Our Pale Ale has a tasty maltiness (think biscuits and caramel) without too much sweetness and body. American hops bring tropical fruit aromas. This is our ‘all day’ beer, and a fitting accompaniment to many food styles.
Wine/Grape: Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon
Beer: Zerodegrees C-Hop IPA
Tasting Notes: With bags of complexity, C-Hop is the strongest beer in our current line-up at 6.0%, and it’s in-your-face hop flavours (think Pale Ale turned up to 11) are balanced with body and slight sweetness.
